Washing Your Wood Deck

With A Pressure Washer

One way to clean your deck is with a pressure washer. If you choose to use a pressure washer make sure you prepare the area accordingly. Close all nearby windows and doors, cover all electrical components, clear loose debris and pay attention to the direction of the wind.

When using the washer, always go over the instructions before getting started to make sure you are using it properly. Utilize a wood cleaner specifically made for pressure washers to ensure you get the best results. After you have applied the cleaner, rinse it off with the grain of the wood.

While using a pressure washer always make sure you are following the manufacturers instructions and do not leave the washer on and unattended. And never, ever point the washer at a person or animal!

With A Hose

You can also get a great looking deck without a pressure washer. All you need is some cleaner, brush and a regular hose.

Start by pre-rinsing the deck to get rid of debris and to give you a clean surface to start. Then mix your cleaning solution and spray on the deck. You can spray all over the deck and scrub the areas with dirt, mold, mildew or stains or you could give the whole thing a good scrub. Always go with the grain using a stiff bristle brush. Once you are done rinse it clean.
